Browse Genomes: C.elegans D.melanogaster mine modENCODE: query!!
The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) model organism ENCyclopedia Of DNA Elements (modENCODE) Project will try to identify all of the sequence-based functional elements in the Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster genomes. The project is run as a Research Network and data is publicly available on its modENCODE-mine data warehouse.
This site is maintained by the modENCODE Data Coordination Center.
For comments, problems, requests and general information about the project please contact us at our help desk.

News and Notes

  • June 17, 2008: Many new modENCODE tracks
Many new modENCODE tracks has been added to our Genome Browsers.

  • April 2-6, 2008: 49th Annual Drosophila Research Conference
The modENCODE consortium gave some presentations at the conference in San Diego, California. They are available here.

  • January 28, 2008: First release of modENCODE-mine
The data warehouse for the modENCODE project is available at [ http://intermine.modencode.org/query/ ], containing basic genetic data for Drosophila and C. Elegans.

  • November 6, 2007: New data in the Genome Browsers
Selected expression-related tracks from WormBase, FlyBase have been added to the modENCODE worm and fly genome browsers. Some new features include EST tracks, whole genome tiling array data from Manak JR, et al. Nature Genet. 2006 Oct;38(10):1151-8 and new gene predictions for C. elegans. If would like to have additional data imported from Worm/FlyBase or other sources, please let us know.

  • September 18, 2007: Transcription Factor Genes for modENCODE
Input from the C. elegans and Drosophila research communities is sought in order to help choose which transcription factor to focus on for analysis in modENCODE projects, please visit the TF voting page for more information.
